Over in a companion story just posted (http://www.goteamsgo.com/forum/indyc...es-hulman.html) it says he's supposed to also get more involved with running Vision Racing (his race team.)

So, if I understand this right, he's supposed to focus on running the IRL and Indy Lights AND Vision Racing. Seems like a conflict of interest somewhere...

i thought i read he was out as the head of the IRL too. i'll see if i can dig it up.

I went back and read some press clippings and it appears he's "officially" a team owner and a member of the Board of Directors. But he'd also been asked to focus on creating a new management structure for IRL. It may be that when he reported back, Momma patted him on the butt and sent him packing... The "we wish him every...." is the kiss of death statement.

I found this article while looking for something else. If true (and I have no reason to doubt it), then it gives some good insight into the events that lead up to Tony getting the boot. It's posted by Doug Guthrie of The Detroit News and is titled "What Tony George's ouster means to auto racing"
