Holmgren and the Browns?

Former Seattle and Green Bay coach Mike Holmgren says he would be interested in working for the Cleveland Browns.
Holmgren said on his weekly radio show on Seattle's KJR that he has not yet spoken to Browns owner Randy Lerner, who is looking for a "serious, credible leader" football authority to run his struggling team. Holmgren did not say if he would like to coach again, but indicated he would be welcome the chance to take on a rebuilding project like the 1-8 Browns.

Holmgren says he is interested in meeting with Browns - USATODAY.com

Does this mean like a GM or something?
Does he realize how much rebuilding is needed?
Does this mean Mangini maybe done?

Re: Holmgren and the Browns?

I think Holmgren would do a great job with the Browns. I wouldn't be surprised if he hired Jon Gruden away from ESPN. If Gruden does take the Browns job, ESPN can use compensation from any contract buyout to woo Moose Johnston away from Fox and put him in the booth with Mike Tirico and Ron Jawarski.

Moose would go nuts working with those two.

You're probably right, but then Moose would have the opportunity to be the #1 sports analyst at ESPN where he is only #2 at Fox.

Re: Holmgren and the Browns?

I am really surprised that Holmgren want to come back to the NFL to coach. He left the Seahawks in sorry shape at the end there. Well, money does talk?

I think that the mistake Holmgren made was saying that the 2008 season would have been his last. He probably should have quit in 2007 or signed a one year extension and leave after 2008. I think Holmgren going in as a lame duck coach was what did the Seahawks in.

I never thought there was any question that he would come back sometime. I thought he was just taking a break. But if I remember right, he said no to the Browns.
